Leicestershire: 'Wrong way' driver killed in crash with lorry on M1

A driver has died following a crash between a car and a lorry on the M1 in Leicestershire.
Police said they were alerted to a Jaguar X-Type travelling the wrong way on the northbound carriageway at about 04:30 GMT on Friday.
A short time later officers were told the car had been involved in a crash with a HGV.
The Jaguar driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was uninjured.
Leicestershire Police said due to recent police contact with the Jaguar driver, the force had made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The M1 was closed in both directions between junctions 20 and 21 following the crash but has since fully reopened.
Det Con Charlotte Wright said: "I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the Jaguar prior to the collision or the collision itself."
