A GP practice with 11,000 patients is to quit its Nottingham surgery at the end of May.

Doctors who currently run the Windmill Practice, in Sneinton, have announced they are withdrawing from their contract to provide primary medical services.

NHS bosses said they were looking for a new provider to take over the Beaumont Street surgery from June.

The Windmill Practice has been contacted for comment.

The NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) said it hoped to reassure patients that a contract with a new team of GPs would mean no disruption to their care.

The ICB's commissioning delivery director Victoria McGregor-Riley said: "We understand that any change can be unsettling, and we would be more than happy to speak to anyone about any concerns they may have about this process.

"It is our intention to find new arrangements which will see a continuation of the great work being delivered by the current contract holder."

The ICB has not said why the contract was handed back.

Ms McGregor-Riley added: "We can reassure patients that there will be no immediate changes and they should continue to use GP services as they usually do."

The practice's Facebook page said there were currently 10 doctors, five nurses, two health care assistants and 14 administrative staff at the surgery, based at the Sneinton Health Centre.

Current surgery staff will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the new providers under TUPE rules, if they are eligible, Ms McGregor-Riley said.
