Gary Ellis pleaded guilty to two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films without consent and two counts of breaching a restraining order

A Nottinghamshire man who shared explicit sexual images and private details of a woman online has been jailed.

Gary Ellis, from Mansfield Woodhouse, posted the images on pornographic websites and social media platforms.

The 57-year-old published them alongside personal information about his victim.

He was handed a three-year prison sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday.

Ellis, of Ashworth Drive, was already the subject of a restraining order when he committed similar offences last year, police said.

'Shameful'

He had also been handed a suspended jail sentence in 2020.

Nottinghamshire Police said the images could only have been taken by Ellis, who posted the images under assumed names.

He declined to answer officers' questions when he was arrested in January, the force said.

But he later pleaded guilty to two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films without consent and two counts of breaching a restraining order.

PC Abigail Dorricott said: "This kind of offending is deliberately designed to shame and humiliate victims, but the only shame here lies with Ellis.

"His actions were a shameful violation of his victim's privacy and have quite rightly resulted in a significant custodial sentence.

"His victim, meanwhile, has shown admirable bravery and determination in coming forward, telling us about what was happening and giving compelling evidence against him."
