Police said security guards forced entry into the cubicle and put out the fire

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a fire in a hospital toilet.

Nottinghamshire Police said they were called to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham at about 21:30 BST on Tuesday after receiving a report of a male setting fire to toilet paper inside a locked cubicle.

Security guards forced entry to the cubicle before putting out the fire.

A 49-year-old man remains in custody for questioning.

Ch Insp Anwaar Ahmed said: "Arson can have catastrophic consequences and put lives at risk which is why we treat incidents like this with such seriousness."
