Soldiers to be honoured at Oxfordshire museum

Plans for a new £4m museum to honour soldiers from Oxfordshire have taken a major step forward.
Oxfordshire County Council has granted permission for a new permanent building in the grounds of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock.
The museum will recognise the area's military contributions from the 1700s to the present day.
It will include maps, personal accounts and artefacts from the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.
'Fitting tribute'
Permission was granted after a ten-year campaign by the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Trust.
Major Hugh Babington Smith, of the trust, said: "War and conflict is part of our life, like it or not. It's important not to forget why people fought and lost their lives.
"Oxfordshire has a long and much more involved connection with the armed forces than some people think. This will be a fitting tribute."
Major Babington Smith said £2m has already been raised and he hopes the museum will be open by the end of 2012.
