The council said it would cost £24.2m to refurbish Temple Cowley Pool

A campaign to stop plans to bulldoze an Oxford swimming pool has failed.

The Save Temple Cowley Pool group wanted Oxford City Council to reconsider its plan to close the pool and open a new one at Blackbird Leys.

A scrutiny committee upheld the council's original decision on 27 September.

The existing pool at Blackbird Leys will also be closed as councillors say both are outdated and too expensive to run.
