Oxford pet owners warned over dog virus

Dog owners in Oxfordshire are being warned about an outbreak of a contagious disease.

The city council said it had received six reports of canine parvovirus on Oxford's Rose Hill estate.

Symptoms of the disease include vomiting, diarrhoea, shortness of breath and an irregular heartbeat. It can be fatal if untreated.

Dog owners in the area have been advised to check their pets' vaccinations were up to date.

They have also being advised to disinfect their shoes and clean their dogs' paws after walks.
