Oxford's pedestrianisation plans on 'back burner'

Plans to pedestrianise streets in the centre of Oxford have been "put on the back burner" due to a lack of funds.

Conservative councillor Ian Hudspeth, responsible for transport at Oxfordshire County Council, said the work had been moved down the agenda.

It affects the High Street, St Aldate's, Broad Street, George Street and Magdalen Street.

He said a priority in the city was to improve Frideswide Square which was seen as a gateway to Oxford.
