Prince Charles is coming to Bampton in his capacity as patron of the charity Music in Country Churches

Prince Charles will be in Oxfordshire on 21 May to attend a church concert.

He will be at St. Mary the Virgin Church in Bampton as the patron of the charity Music in Country Churches.

The performance by the New Queen's Hall Orchestra is in aid of a neighbouring church in Stanton Harcourt where essential maintenance work is required.

The Reverend Sarah Sharp from Stanton Harcourt said: "We were extremely grateful they've given us the opportunity to get the work done."

Working church

Ms Sharp added that Bampton was chosen to host the event instead of her own church because its capacity of 500 was the optimum size for a Music in Country Churches event.

She said St Michael in Stanton Harcourt needed donations to continue operating as a working church.

The concert by the New Queen's Hall Orchestra will include performances of works by well known British composers including Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Britten.
