Jayden Parkinson: Memorial service to be held

Jayden Parkinson's body was found in a recently disturbed grave in the cemetery in Didcot

A memorial service will be held for teenager Jayden Parkinson in the church by the cemetery in Oxfordshire where her body was found.

Jayden was last seen on 3 December and her body was discovered in a recently disturbed grave at the Great Western Cemetery in Didcot on 18 December.

The 17-year-old's ex-boyfriend, Ben Blakeley, 22, from Reading, has been charged with her murder.

A service will be held at All Saints' Church on Saturday.

It will be taken by the Reverend Karen Beck and the address will be given by the Bishop of Dorchester, the Right Reverend Colin Fletcher.

Balloons released

A spokeswoman for the church said: "Students from Didcot Girls' School where Jayden was a pupil will sing and there will be tributes by a number of her friends.

"At the end of the service, white balloons will be released in memory of Jayden."

After she disappeared, more than 100 officers and detectives carried out forensic searches at several sites in and around Didcot, and the nearby village of Upton, in a bid to find Jayden, who came from Oxford.

Initial post-mortem tests proved inconclusive and more investigations are being conducted.

A 17-year-old boy from Didcot, has been charged with perverting the course of justice and is due for a further appearance on 17 March.

He is accused of assisting in the disposal of Jayden's body and other evidence.
