Liberty Baker: Man in court over school walk death

A man has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a 14-year-old girl by dangerous driving.

Liberty Baker died in hospital after a car mounted the pavement as she walked to school in Witney, Oxfordshire, on 30 June.

Two other 14-year-olds and a man were also hit in the incident on Curbridge Road and needed hospital treatment.

Robert Blackwell, 19, of Hayway Lane, Bampton, is also charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth at Banbury Magistrates' Court.

He was bailed to appear at Oxford Crown Court on 8 December.
