The woman was raped at knifepoint in Raleigh Park in Oxford, police said

A man has been charged with raping a woman at knifepoint near a university campus in Oxford.

Police said the 44-year-old man was charged with assault and possessing a knife in a public place.

The attack happened on Tuesday between 19:45 and 20:10 GMT, as the victim walked in Harcourt Hill, adjacent to the Oxford Brookes Campus.

During the attack the woman was approached from behind with a knife, taken to Raleigh Park and raped.

The charged man has been remanded and will appear at Oxford Crown Court on 12 February.
