Liam Price says running helps boost his mood

An RAF serviceman is running 250 miles for the charity that has helped him through his battles with depression.

Liam Price, who is based at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, said without armed forces charity SSAFA he "probably wouldn't be here today".

It provides military personnel with support wherever they are posted.

Mr Price's challenge has already included the Oxford Half and he is preparing to run the Portsmouth Coastal Marathon on 17 December.

He and his son also took part in the Santa Dash in Wallingford on Sunday.

SSAFA, which stands for Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Families Association, provides a social work service for the RAF.

Mr Price said: "Part of my reason for choosing to support SSAFA is, during my 16 years in the service, I've struggled with many aspects of my life.

"Without SSAFA's help, I probably wouldn't be here today. The help I received has been fantastic.

"Each representative of SSAFA has treated me with the greatest of respect and advised me when I never thought I could get help."

Mr Price aims to complete the 250 miles by the end of December.
