A multimillion-pound refurbishment of a school has been given the green light.

The work at Bloxham Primary School in Oxfordshire is estimated to cost about £2.8m.

Dr Dan Levy, cabinet member for finance at the county council, approved the construction of a new school hall at a meeting on Tuesday.

Construction, which is expected to take about a year to complete, is scheduled to start in early 2024.

The proposed hall will be built next to the school's main entrance, with its red brick design in keeping with the pre-existing school building.

The work will also involve repurposing the current hall into a teaching space, refurbishment of an existing building to provide a kitchen and improvements to the school's forecourt and parking.

The renovations come after phased expansions over previous years to match rising demand for school places.
