A glass window above a bank fell out and smashed on to a town centre street, onlookers have said.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Sheep Street in Bicester at just after 15:30 GMT on Tuesday.

The window pane, which appeared to come from the first floor of the building above Halifax, left shards of glass scattered around the pavement.

Halifax said the branch was temporarily closed while the building underwent repairs.

Once it was made safe, the branch reopened, a spokesperson added.

In a post on social media, one woman said the window "fell out of the building above Halifax", but added that no one had been hurt.

The fire service said the area was cordoned off and the incident was then handed over to police.
