Joshua Wreford disappearance was described as out of character

Underwater search teams who were looking for a man missing since a night out in Shrewsbury have found a body.

West Mercia Police said the discovery was made in the River Severn, close to the English Bridge.

Police had been looking for Joshua Wreford, 24, who was last seen in the Barker Street area on Wednesday night after leaving The Source Vodka Bar.

The body has yet to be identified and the police inquiry into Mr Wreford's disappearance is continuing.

Officers earlier said Mr Wreford had possibly been in the Victoria Quay area shortly after midnight.

His family reported him missing on Thursday and said his disappearance was totally out of character.

Insp Rik Klair of Shrewsbury Police said anyone with information should contact them.
