A new supermarket is to be built on the site of a livestock market in Shropshire, following a council vote.
Councillors considered three applications for a new supermarket in Oswestry on Thursday and chose the Smithfield Livestock Market site.
The Richard Burbidge and JT Hughes sites were rejected in front of an audience of about 100 people, including those against the plans.
The councillors voted six to five in favour of the Smithfield site.
In July a fourth application to build on the central car park site in the town was thrown out but an appeal hearing is scheduled for February, a spokesman said.
