Leukaemia blog girl gets all clear from doctors

A Shropshire schoolgirl whose online diary about her battle with leukaemia was read around the world has been given the all clear.

Sophie Foxley, 12, from Shrewsbury, was diagnosed with the disease when she was eight and 60,000 people a week logged on to her blog in 2006.

A nine-year-old girl apologised in 2008 for posting disturbing messages on the site.

But Sophie said news of her being in remission means she does not look back.

She said: "I don't think about it any more. I don't really look back."

'Lovely news'

Her mother, Jane, said she was cautiously welcoming the news.

"Obviously it's lovely news but we're still going to have our doubts," she said.

"We're still going to be apprehensive but we've got to move forward the best we can really and make the most of everyday.

"Hopefully, things we do come across now will just be helping other people who have been through similar situations."

Police said the threats posted on her blog were traced to the computer of a girl in the north-east of England who was spoken to and later apologised.

Sophie was inundated with messages of support after receiving the messages.
