A landslip at the Shropshire Union Canal has caused a blockage at the Woodseaves Cutting.

British Waterways said the recent cold weather, followed by thawing ice, had led to the slip on 14 January, between bridges 58 and 59 near Market Drayton.

Surveyors revealed more unsafe sandstone and the section of canal was closed for the safety of the public.

Contractors have been brought in to begin remedial work next week, but there is no date for reopening.
