More staff to repair potholes in Telford

Work is to begin this week to fill in potholes on roads in part of Shropshire caused by the severe winter weather.

Telford and Wrekin Council wants the public to report as many as possible as the number of teams to deal with potholes has doubled from four to eight.

One of the coldest Decembers on record has seen a rise in the number of potholes on public roads.

Last year the council said it filled about 11,500 between January and March.

To report a pothole, the council said people could use its website or call its Pothole Busters hotline.

Councillor Adrian Lawrence, cabinet member for environment and rural area, said: "The condition of the public roads is a major issue for our residents.

"It's also one of our top priorities- that's why we are putting these extra resources in to deal with this as a matter of urgency."
