Shrewsbury leisure centre: External manager plan

A Shropshire leisure centre may be run by an external manager to save money if council proposals are approved.
Shropshire Council has put forward the plan for the Quarry Swimming and Fitness Centre, in Shrewsbury.
The suggestion will be considered by members at Shropshire Council's cabinet on 3 August.
If approved, the centre will sit alongside four other leisure centres across the county that will be managed by a new leisure partner in the future.
The other four are Market Drayton Swimming Centre, Oswestry Leisure Centre, Whitchurch Swimming Centre and Shrewsbury Sports Village and Indoor Bowls Hall.
A council spokesman said the approach will protect services while offering better value for money.
The school governors at Bridgnorth Endowed School are currently considering whether Bridgnorth Leisure Centre should also form part of these new arrangements.
