Muller firm to shed up to 55 jobs

  • Published

Up to 55 jobs could be lost at a North Shropshire dairy which manufactures Muller yoghurts.

Muller Dairy UK has announced it is making redundancies across its UK and Ireland operation.

A spokesman for the yoghurt makers said the "vast majority" of jobs were expected to go at the Market Drayton factory, which employs 750 people.

The company said it needed to remain competitive in a difficult economic climate.

The factory in Market Drayton is Muller's only permanent base in the UK and Ireland, with other "remote" staff working from home, a spokesman said.

Muller said staff had been informed and a period of consultation had begun.
