A 40-mile section of the Shropshire Way has been opened to the public this weekend.
The Oswestry Loop is the latest part to be upgraded as part of a project to increase the length of the 140-mile walking route.
Walkers can go from Llanymynech to Chirk Bank, Ellesmere and back to Llanymynech, the council said.
The Shropshire Way was set up by ramblers in the 1970s and has since been extended.
The latest upgrade has been paid for by Shropshire Council and with funding from Europe.
