Plans for £1.1m Shrewsbury burial site reviewed

Proposals for a new £1.1m burial site will be considered in Shrewsbury.

The site will replace the existing Emstrey Cemetery on the London Road, which is due to close in three years because of issues with water levels.

The council-owned land, which would allow woodland burial services, is near the B4386 Mytton Oak Road and the A5.

A public consultation is due on 17 July. Shropshire Council said there is a need to build more burial grounds to "meet the current and future demand".

The plans will be finally submitted to the council in September.
