Georgia Williams went missing on Sunday 26 May

A football club trophy is to be created in memory of a Shropshire teenager whose body was found in woodland, days after going missing from her home.

The body of Georgia Williams, 17, was discovered off the Nant-y-Garth pass, near Wrexham, on 31 May.

The annual award will be presented to young volunteers at AFC Telford United, the club Georgia used to help.

Jamie Reynolds, 22, of Avondale Road, Wellington, Shropshire, has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Georgia's funeral was held at All Saints Church in Wellington on Friday.

The football club's community and fan liaison officer, the Reverend Mark Berry, attended the service and said Georgia had been a volunteer at the club from an early age.

Mr Berry said: "They've called it the United For Georgia Trophy and it'll be presented every year at the open day.

"The rest of our trophies are presented at our presentation evening at the end of the season but they felt it appropriate to present it at a family day when children and folk of all ages are there.

"It'll be presented annually for young people who give their time and part of their life to the community of the football club and beyond."

A charitable trust is also being set up by Georgia's family.
