Virgin Trains axes plans for Shrewsbury-London service

Virgin Trains has scrapped plans for a direct rail service between Shrewsbury and London.
The company was due to introduce a service to Euston from May.
But it said the proposed timings - two weekday off-peak daytime slots and two slots on Sundays - were unattractive and not economically viable.
A spokesman for Virgin Trains said it would work with Network Rail and other groups to create a service to benefit Shropshire residents from December.
