Eight thousand homes earmarked for Telford in council plan

Sites across Telford have been earmarked for the development of 8,000 new homes.
Telford and Wrekin Council has announced the locations as part of its proposed Local Plan.
The council wants to build 20,000 homes in Telford by 2031.
Residents said some of the homes were proposed for a popular beauty spot. A public consultation on the plans is due to start on Tuesday.
'A beautiful spot'
The council has already committed to 12,000 homes through existing planning permissions.
Its "Shaping Places" document proposes locations for the remaining 8,000, across 78 sites
Some of the biggest developments proposed include more than 2,000 new homes in Donnington and more than 1,000 in Priorslee.
There are also plans to build 500 homes on the former Sugar Beet factory site in Wrockwardine.
Judith Turley from Stirchley and Brookside Parish Council, where 256 homes are proposed for Nedge Hill Farm, said: "The problem is, the government has set these targets for housing.
"Personally I oppose any building on a green site but I do understand the council's position."
She added she believed the housing was not located on "the most outstanding" section of Nedge Hill.
"The top of the spot is a beautiful spot with panoramic views," she said. "I think the housing is proposed for further down. But I expect it will be controversial."
