Shrewsbury 'lost baby ashes' investigation finds 60 cases

An investigation into a crematorium has discovered over the past 15 years at least 60 families were not given the ashes of babies who had died.

Emstrey Crematorium in Shrewsbury had only returned one in 30 sets of remains since 2004.

Shropshire Council, which owns the crematorium, and Co-operative Funeralcare, which has managed the site since 2009, are due to submit evidence to the inquiry on past and present cremation policies.

As BBC Midlands Today's Joanne Writtle reports, the full findings are to be published in April.
