Firefighters tackle Whittington house blaze

Four fire appliances were called to the scene in Whittington

Roads were closed while firefighters tackled a blaze at a house in north Shropshire on Monday.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to a property in Park Green in Whittington at 08:25 BST.

In total, four appliances were sent to the scene from Ellesmere, Oswestry and Shrewsbury, while police officers also attended.

Firefighters said the blaze had spread from the chimney flue to the roof space of the property.

Roads around the area were closed for a while, but have since reopened.
