A developer has submitted plans for hoardings and signage around a former school site where almost 200 rental homes are being built.

The homes are on a seven-acre site on Severn Drive in Telford, previously occupied by Charlton School.

The new estate, Assembly Park, was approved last year and consists of 195 two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Developer Vistry Partnerships wants permission for boards and hoardings to conceal ongoing works.

"We are requesting consent for the install of temporary signage during the leasing phase of these units to assist prospective tenants with finding the site, and with wayfinding throughout the site," the application said.

"The signage is also proposed to assist with preserving the look and feel of the area whilst it is in the construction phase."

Update 23 May 2023: An earlier version of this story suggested planning permission for the development was granted this month, but work on the homes is already under way.
