Arrest after firearm discharged in Shrewsbury fight

A man has been arrested after a firearm was discharged in a fight involving two men in Shrewsbury.

A 23-year-old man suffered a minor hand injury and was taken to hospital following the incident on Mytton Oak Road at about 19:00 GMT on Thursday.

The Co-op and neighbouring businesses were sealed off by police.

A man aged 35 has been held on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear, West Mercia Police said.

Officers have been on patrol in the area to offer reassurance to concerned residents, the force said.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called on Thursday to reports of a patient with gunshot injuries. They were described as minor.
