Road closures will be in place from 11 December until 15 December

More dates have been set for resurfacing and structural repairs to a Shropshire town's historic bridge.

To allow for the works in Clun, road closures will be in place this month from Enfield Street to B4368 High Street and Bridge Street.

The ongoing repairs at Clun Bridge included drainage work in October.

The latest will be carried out from 11 December until 15 December, from 09:30 to 16:00 GMT, with traffic diversions in place.

Shropshire Council said access for properties and businesses within the closure zone would be maintained when safe to do so, though there would be no vehicle access across the bridge during the work.

Richard Bright runs a florist next to the bridge and said people tended to avoid the town when there were road closures

Richard Bright who owns Bright Flowers on Church Street said people tended to avoid the town when there were road closures.

"If Bridge Street is closed it's going to be hard for people to get to Church Street where my business is," he explained.

"Christmas is coming up and we want as many customers as possible."

The grade two listed bridge also had work done in July to address damaged sections of both parapets.
