Gracie-Mae was inspired to buy the treats for rescue dogs by her own pet Gus, also a rescue

A little girl has saved her pocket money and also raised funds to buy treats for rescue dogs this Christmas.

Gracie-Mae from Telford bought Hilbrae Rescue Kennels and Grinshill Dog Rescue in Shropshire more than 100 toys and 60 boxes and bags of treats.

Her mum Natalie said the five-year-old was inspired by their own rescue dog Gus as he had made her think of other dogs needing a home.

"She makes myself and her father proud on a daily basis," Natalie said.

Gracie-Mae said: "[Not having a home] will make them sad but everyone needs to be happy at Christmas."

Her mum added: "She is already thinking about what she can do next Christmas."

'Kind young lady'

Gracie-Mae saved all her pocket money as well as getting donations from family, friends and her mum's work colleagues.

A local pub also helped collect donations to send to the dogs.

Grinshill Dog Rescue said: "What a kind young lady Gracie-Mae is." It added that their dogs would enjoy opening all the presents on Christmas Day.
