A bridge which is more than 100 years old will be closed for two months for repair works.

Cressage Bridge crosses the River Severn and is on the B4380, which runs between Cressage and Eaton Constantine.

Shropshire Council said a concrete slab will be installed to strengthen the bridge and work will be carried out to make it more water-resistant.

The work is due to start on 29 January and end on 5 April. Diversions will be put in place.

The authority said when the bridge was inspected in December it had been thought the work would last three months, but the scheme was re-designed to allow it to be completed sooner.

However, it said the dates might change due to unforeseen circumstances, including the weather.
