More than 70 prohibited firearms have been seized in a police raid in a small Shropshire village.

Officers also found ammunition at the property in Corfton, near Craven Arms, West Mercia Police said.

A licensed firearms dealer, 68, was later detained on suspicion of possessing prohibited firearms. He has been released as inquiries continue.

"This... is a timely reminder for people to adhere to the terms of their licence," said Insp Kerri Monaghan.

"Firearms and ammunition should always be stored safely, appropriately, and legally.

"Licence holders should also only hold firearms which they are licensed for."
