Shrewsbury has seen several floods over the winter

A meeting to discuss flooding was so crowded there were people sitting on the floor, its organiser has said.

It was arranged by the Shrewsbury Flood Action Group to improve communications between property owners and various support agencies in the town.

"I felt very positive about it," said Siobhan Connor, chair of the group, after the meeting in Shrewsbury.

Councillors and representative from the Environment Agency and National Flood Forum were among those who attended.

More than 100 turned out and Ms Connor said she was "overwhelmed but not surprised by the number of people" and that it had given people a chance to vent their "anger frustration and abandonment".

After the meeting, contact details were shared and information taken by the agencies which attended, which she said had improved channels of communication.

The action group had called the meeting to bring people repeatedly affected by flooding together and help inform them about what help was available.
