M5 crash: Tributes paid to Tony and Pamela Adams

The family of a couple from south Wales who were killed in the M5 crash in Somerset have paid tribute to their "beautiful angels".

Tony and Pamela Adams, who lived in Newport, were among seven fatalities in the accident, near Taunton on Friday.

Granddaughter Terri White, who lives in Taunton, said the couple was always there to support her.

"They're the second after my parents to show me they loved me so much," she said.

Mr and Mrs Adams, who were travelling home from visiting the family, were in their 70s and got married when they were teenagers.

Their car was close to the front of the wreckage in the crash, which left 51 people injured.

Ms White said that as they were leaving, her grandmother grabbed her and told her "she loved me" and how she was "very proud of me".

"She told me to behave myself - she always would - and to make sure I looked after my mum and dad," she said.

Earlier, the family laid flowers on the railings of a motorway bridge close to the crash site.

Their daughter Tonia White said it was "extremely difficult but something we wanted to do and had to do".

"They were the very foundation of everything we believe in," she said.

"They were the core of our family, they were the foundation, the guiders and the counsellors of the family."

In her tribute, Terri wrote: "I love you always. Rest in peace, my beautiful angels."

Husband, Phillip White said the whole family was "totally gutted".

"We loved them all so much, I'll just cherish the day we had them here," he said.

Avon and Somerset Police who are investigating the cause are treating a nearby fireworks display as a "major line of inquiry".

Detectives have appealed for any amateur footage of the fireworks or the crash scene to be sent to them.
