Yeovil Town Football Club's store plans criticised

Yeovil Town Football Club's plans to build a supermarket on land it owns has failed to win town council backing.
The plans have been submitted by the football club in partnership with The Range, a garden superstore chain.
Yeovil Town councillors fear the new food store would increase congestion and take trade from the town centre.
Store owner Chris Dawson, said: "The traffic problems would be outweighed by the improvements to the roads." It is claimed the deal would create 150 jobs.
The plans outlined for the site include space for a large food store, car parking and new access routes and is part of a multi-million pound deal made between the football club and Mr Dawson.
South Somerset District Council is expected to give its verdict on the plans at the start of May.
