A school which was evacuated following a flash flood in Somerset on Wednesday will remain closed until at least Monday, staff have said.

Bowlish Infants School in Shepton Mallet was evacuated after flooding hit the area.

The head teacher said it would review the situation over the weekend and it "hoped to open" as normal next week.

The River Sheppey in nearby Croscombe burst its banks, flooding a pub and homes in the centre of the village.

Mendip District Council said it was working with the Environment Agency and police to prepare for the possible risk of more localised flooding on Friday.
