Yeovil's St Peter's House addicts' help centre may close

A centre in Somerset which helps drug addicts and alcoholics may be forced to close because of a lack in funding.

St Peter's House Projects has been based in Yeovil since 2009 but its lottery funding will run out in May.

Volunteer Andy Lovell, said: "Peter's House simply won't have the funds to run the service as it is, and deliver the service in helping turning around people's lives."

The charity offers a dry house to help those come off drugs or alcohol safely.

St Peter's House used to run a night shelter in the town, but this closed after changes to government policy.

The new guidelines favoured single room occupancy in night shelters, as opposed to dormitories, which the night shelter used to provide.
