Frome development plans revealed for Saxonvale site

Plans to redevelop part of a derelict site in Frome, Somerset, have been revealed for public comments.

A medium-sized supermarket, shops and a public square are on the drawing board for the old Notts Industries Saxonvale site, according to Frontier Estates.

The developer said it was the first major investment in the town centre for a generation at a site which has lay empty for nearly a decade.

It added the development would also bring 300 new jobs to the town.

Three years ago, campaigner John Harris, from the Keep Frome Local group, said another supermarket would not be welcome at the Saxonvale site as there were already six in the area.

Comments can be submitted online, external or at two drop-in sessions being held at the Archangel Hotel, on King Street in the town, on 18 and 21 September.
