A day centre and flats for homeless people are to be created in Yeovil using £100,000 of council funding.
South Somerset District Council has agreed to lease a property in South Street to housing charity, Bournemouth Churches Housing Association.
The council cash will be used to convert the top floors into four flats and the ground floor into a day centre.
In August 2011, Yeovil Night Shelter closed and two years later its drugs rehabilitation service ended.
The total cost of the refurbishment of the building has been estimated at £200,000.
South Somerset District will apply for £65,000 of central government funds allocated to councils in Somerset to tackle rough sleeping.
Another charity, Barnabas Housing Association, has said it will donate the remaining balance.
