The proposed cable car system would link Foxhill with Bath Spa railway station
A cable car system could be built to go directly into the centre of Bath under proposals being considered by a housing association.
Curo bought the former MoD site at Foxhill on the outskirts of the city last year and plans to redevelop the base into an estate of 700 homes.
"You could leave home, get on a cable car and be in the station in 15 minutes and catch a train to London," said Victor Da Cunha, Curo chief executive.
Final plans will be submitted in 2015.
The MoD announced in 2011 that it was closing three of its bases in Bath at Foxhill, Ensleigh and Warminster Road and transferring some 1,400 staff to Abbeywood in Bristol.
The move was designed to save the MoD £39.5m over 15 years.
Curo - the largest social landlord in Bath and North East Somerset - bought the site and has just begun to knock down the flat-roofed buildings and clear them of asbestos.
An exhibition of plans for the former base show 700 new homes ranging from six storey flats to town houses.
Green spaces, community facilities and a new school are also planned.
