The Venerable Ruth Worsley is to be consecrated as the Church of England's next Bishop of Taunton at St Paul's Cathedral later.

Archdeacon Worsley, 53, leaves her position in the Diocese of Salisbury to become the 13th Bishop of Taunton in the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, will lead the ordination and consecration.

Archdeacon Worsley said she was "delighted to be heading to Somerset".

"It will be a great privilege to meet and serve everyone who lives and works in the county," she said.

She will then be officially installed as Bishop of Taunton in Wells Cathedral at a later date.
