Matthew Robson was given a bottle of 18-year-old whisky every year for his birthday
A collection of whisky bottles bought every year since 1992 as a birthday present has sold for £44,000.
The collection was owned by Matthew Robson, whose father bought him a bottle of the 18-year-old Macallan single malt every year over the course of his life since his birth.
It has now been sold to an international buyer for £44,000.
Mr Robson, now 28, said he would be using the funds from the sale to put down a deposit on a new home.
"The situation we're in at the moment, I couldn't even have dreamed of, so for that I am extremely thankful," Mr Robson said.
"Dad's always said that it can be used as a nest egg, so I am at the time in my life where I'm looking to purchase a flat or a house with my girlfriend.
"The money I'll get from selling this will go towards a house deposit which, in these uncertain times, is a massive help."

Pete Robson said the whisky "wasn't the only present" he gave his son for his birthday
His father Pete, who is from Milnathort in Scotland, said the first bottle of 1974 whisky was bought to "wet the baby's head".
"In the early days it was just meant to be a unique present that I could give to the kids - I suppose it's nearly 30 years ago since I started the collection," he said.
"Whisky wasn't seen as an investment quite so much in those days but over the last 10 to 15 years that has changed significantly and it's performed very well as an investment.
"It was a little [bit] of luck we kept it going but we didn't do it initially as a pure investment."
The collection was sold by whisky broker Mark Littler, who described it as a "perfect set".
Mr Littler said: "It never ceases to amaze me how strong the market is for Macallan.
"To be able achieve such a strong price for Matthew is incredible and it is great to think how this money will set him and his family up for the future."
He said the buyer wanted to remain anonymous.
