A39 near Bridgwater reopens after man hit by car

A major road has reopened after a man was hit by a car.

The A39 was closed in both directions near Bridgwater in Somerset at around 06:25 GMT following the incident, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Paramedics took the man to hospital following the collision.

The road was closed for several hours on Monday morning from Skimmerton Lane to the Sandford Hill roundabout - but reopened at around 11:10 GMT.
