Three teenagers remain in police custody, after 11 people were initially arrested.
Craig Sawyer, who runs the Waste Company said Mikey, from Kingswood in Bristol, who worked part-time for the firm, "was a very lovely lad" and "customers loved him."
He added: "He had a heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone. He was a joy to be around."
Avon and Somerset Police said a post-mortem showed Mikey had died from "a single stab wound".
"Eight teenagers, who were arrested within half an hour of the incident from a bus on Lansdown Lane, have since been released from custody and no further action will be taken against them.
"Three boys - a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old from Wiltshire and a 15-year-old from Dorset - remain in police custody and continue to be questioned by detectives," the force added.
Friends of Mikey launched balloons at a Kingswood skate park in memory of him on Sunday.
Graffiti tributes to the teenager have also appeared at the skate park.
Residents living close to the scene of the stabbing said they heard "a lot of screaming" before emergency crews arrived.
Nearby resident Steven Smart, 65, said he heard a lot of shouting and saw youths running past his house.
"I heard a woman say, 'What you running for?'.
"Then there were police cars, ambulances and helicopters. As soon as I saw helicopters I thought it has got to be something serious."
Another resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, said she heard loud shouting, swearing and people running following the noise of fireworks, at about 23:00 BST.
She said: "I was in bed and I heard the voice of a man shouting and some running. The shouting was quite loud.
"About 10 or 15 minutes before that I heard fireworks."
She added: "It's rare for the police to come here, it a nice, quiet area."
Detective Inspector Mark Newbury, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "Mikey's family have been informed of these developments and our thoughts continue to be with them as they come to terms with their loss.
"The investigation into Mikey's murder continues at pace with a team of officers and staff working tirelessly to piece together what happened.
"A cordon remains in place at the scene, and we continue to appeal for anyone who has images, footage or information which could help our inquiry to get in touch."
Chief Inspector Ronald Lungu, of the Bath Neighbourhood Policing team, added: "This tragedy is one too many and it should not be allowed to happen anywhere.
"I hear the community's concerns about this and other recent incidents and would like to reassure them we are doing everything we can to tackle knife crime in Bath."
Avon and Somerset Police said a "significant" police presence is expected in the area over the next few days while officers carry out forensic examinations, a review of CCTV footage and house-to-house inquiries.
A 35-year-old woman was also stabbed but was discharged from hospital, the force said.
All Saints Weston church said it would open between 14:00 BST and 20:00 for quiet prayer, reflection and for people from the local community to light candles.
A fundraiser has already raised over £4,000 to go towards funeral costs.
