An empty shopping premises in a town centre has been put up for sale.

Glovers Walk in Yeovil includes 26 retail outlets, a kiosk, toilets and a restaurant, but only two shops on Lower Middle Street are open for trading.

Property consultant Alder King listed the site on the market last week, with a guide price of £1.75m.

The future of the nearby bus station is currently secured, as Somerset Council has a lease on it.

In 2018, Martin Property Group purchased the site and revealed plans to redevelop it, but nothing transpired.

Jo Reynolds is a local business owner and the president of the Yeovil and District Chamber of Commerce.

She said: "I totally understand the concerns that people have.

"The problem that we've got at the moment is that we've had a pandemic and that has changed the way that a lot of people do business and the way high streets operate.

"What we have to remember is that we can't do any development on any of the properties with tenants inside them, therefore it was very purposeful that Glovers Walk tenants were moved to other areas of the town before the pandemic."

"We're trying to evolve with that changing landscape to make sure that what we deliver in the future is right in accordance with what people want," she added.
