A guitar signed by all the members of Coldplay has been sold for £3,500 at auction to raise money for two village schools.

The Classic Vibe Telecaster by Fender was donated to the Rode and Norton schools near Frome in Somerset.

The schools will use the money raised for play equipment, heating their buildings and running a minibus.

Jill Clay from Friends of Rode and Norton Schools said: "We put it on auction for 99p 10 days ago.

"So, we were completely shocked to raise so much for our school. It's incredible.

"The guitar was donated to us by a friend of the school and we're very grateful to Coldplay for signing it."

All four members of Coldplay signed the guitar including lead singer Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion.
