A charity town hall concert has been organised for a manager "who goes above and beyond" for others.

Kevin Westwood, who worked in the position at Wells Town Hall for 34 years, had to step down after being diagnosed with terminal cancer in June.

Wells councillor Philip Welch helped to organise the event, which is being held on Saturday evening. He said it will be a chance to celebrate Mr Westwood.

"Kevin is a special guy and he deserves a special night," he said.

Mr Welch said Mr Westwood recently received an award for "going above and beyond the call of duty to help people".

"Because he always goes the extra mile, people feel he is special and want to do something for him," he added.

"But we felt that something more had to be done so, this concert is all for him."

The event at Wells Town Hall is raising funds for Macmillan and Cancer Research.
